Forum:
Hi all,
am trying to change the timing belt on my fourtrak
Im now stuck because i cannot get the crankshat pulley off to remove the timing cover case.
I have removed all 6 of the bolts to release the outer part of the pulley and also the large central bolt - and mow i cant get the damn thing off.
Do i need a special tool to do this?
Also, the crankshaft inner pulley has a yellow dot/circle on it, should i align this or the notch on the pulley with the indicated mark on the timing belt cover (just above and to the right of the crankshat pulley?
help please
thanks
dave
F75 Crankshaft Pulley Removal
I used a set of three legged hydraulic pullers (type Sykes Pickavent )to remove the pulley which can be a very tight fit onto the crankshaft.Note the pulley is located using a key on the shaft which may drop out depending on its position when you remove the pulley. Do not loose it and remember to refit it when you reassemble.
Not sure about the function of the yellow dot, someone else might like to comment. I chocked all the pulleys to stop them moving when I changed my timing belt and put the new belt on in exactly the same position as the old belt counting the teeth on the belt between the various pulleys to make sure I did not disturb the timing. This method has worked perfectly for me on the Fourtrak and several other vehicles.
