Fourtrak Induction Kit

Forum:

Greetings Drivers,

As per the title of this post, I am thinking of fitting an Induction Kit (also known as "Cold Air Intake" where I am from) on my 98 TD 4Trak. Don't know which I should get (if there are any that would fit) and don't even know if it's do-able. Has anyone ever fitted/built/bought one for your TD 4Trak? (if so, have any pics?)
And would fitting an induction kit also require bigger injectors? And exhaust mods? (just thoughts)
Hope others will be interested in the topic and maybe post suggestions, ideas, advices.

Thanks in advance.

you have an

you have an intercooler....more or less same thing as long as its fed air from outside the engine bay so its not too hot it will carry more oxygen.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

No intercooler

Ok. This coming from 'assasin' and 'if there's mud', no point to look any further. Read dozens of posts on other forums and opinions diverge. So thanks for actually saving me some money Smile
However, my 4Trak is not equipped with an intercooler. Should it be? It's actually a Rocky. Maybe different specs from the Euopean 4Trak.
Anyhow.
Cheers.

you dont have one? bit

you dont have one? bit unusual, you could soon get one to fit onto yours, will make a bit of difference.

Intercooler

Now, maybe it does have an intercooler and I don't know it. Where is the intercooler usually located? What does it look like? Anyone have pics of an intercooler installed on a 4Trak?

Your intercoler is a small

Your intercoler is a small radiator looking thing that sits in front of the large radiator. It would have air hoses to and from it that go to the air box and the engine.

Daihatsu Fourtrak Fieldman TDL

It does!!!

Yesss, my 4Trak does have an intercooler (suddenly, I like it even more than before!!!! I love this van!!!)
before I read the description of the intercooler, I spotted it behind the front grill. Exactly.Like a small radiator. Super!!!
Will look into how to clean it. I'm sure it hasnt been cleaned in a while.
I remeber seeing some posts about it.
Thanks a lot.

Total waste of money and

Total waste of money and fitting time, any diesel engine has a surplus of air, because it has to, so why do you need more.
If you decide to fit one you will not need to upgrade anything as it will not do anything as you already have an air surplus.

People often become confused

People often become confused between more air, and more dense air.

More air means nothing to any engine which has a surplus to begin with.

More dense air means more fuel can be injected, so more power, and the way to get more dense air is to cool it. This vehicle already has an intercooler which cools the air to make it more dense.
