Terios J102 Does anyone know if Polyurethane Bushes are available?

Forum:

Hi,

This is my first post.

I have a 2002 J102 Terios, on inspection most of the suspension bushes are badly perished. Does anyone know of a supplier of PU Bushes for this model, or has anyone gone down this road before and identified off the shelf bushes which would suit.

From the UK, currently I live in Perth Australia, where Daihatsu ceased importing in 2005, and as the market is small there are not any options here.

Any help or suggestions very welcome.

PU Bushes - Thanks.

Thanks for all the responses.

It's as I thought, not much available off the shelf.

A company suspension here called Pedders Suspension do a couple of bushes. The front sway bar link bushes, Urethane Panhard Rod Bushs, and Urethane Rear Shock Bushs.

A few of the companies here supply a range of general bushes in many sizes, so I shall have to remove everything and measure the bushes to find the right sizes.

If anyone else would like the information for their Terios, please ask.

Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Ian

Bushes

I worry about you chaps who are looking at plastic bushes for your suspension. The standard rubber bushes form part of the tuned suspension and noise insulation. If you replace them with plastic you will tighten the suspension, which may be a good thing, but it will be much harsher and much more road noise will transmit into the vehicle structure.

Then there is wear. Bonded rubber bushes absorb the movement by shearing the rubber, but hard plastic bushes must turn on something, either on the bolt or in the housing, the latter being particularly nasty!
