Hi, Just been told that the smoking from the engine compartment means that my alternator has died/siezed-up due to it not being used/moved for a few months.(battery light showing on the dash also)
Please can anyone point me in the right direction for the cheapest replacement part new, or, a good source for a second hand one from a breakers?

Belt.
You certain it is not the alternator's belt that is smoking. An alternator unused will not deteriorate but the drive belt will turn hard and likely to slip on the pulley - smoke!

Im afraid it looks like the altetnator has actually siezed. Both belts are turning as are all pulleys except the alternator pulley. Guess this is gonna cost a bit more than a can of wd40!! Anyone recommend a good breakers yard to get a cheap alternator???
