Alloy wheels for YRV Turbo . . .

Forum:

Ok, when it comes to Modifying, I'm pretty much a virgin! I usually like to keep my cars standard, but if there is one thing I hate on my YRV, it's those skinny wheels! Quite a few people have been commenting on how they look like ice skates from behind . . .

This has probably been mentioned on here a thousand times already, so apologies if I'm going over old ground.

I'm looking for a set of replacement alloys (when I find some spare cash and after I sort the exhaust issue), but I want something that will bolt on without any fuss . . . something I can go in and buy from Halfrauds for example, just to improve the look. Ideally, I'd like a low profile tyre, not too fussed on rim dimension, but I'd like something that fills the arches a little, width wise.

Any suggestions or better still, if anyone can give me a list of what to look for when shopping for alloy sets, then it would be much appreciated.

Thanks folks! Wink

Buy the way, the standard Turbo alloys I have on the car at present are immaculate, incredible really for the age, so these will be going up for sale at some point when I get the chance to purchase some new ones! Smile

195/50/15 fit on standard setup - but check the tyres

I have fitted 195/50/15 on my standard setup and no rubbing. Huge difference in drive though.
Much better on cornering and in the wet, and reduced wheelspin a lot.
BUT before you buy, check the shape of the tyre, some 195's have a wider top width than others - bizarre but true. Also be sure to have the maximum load you would normally carry in the car and a bit more to simulate cornering load - and then ask the garage to fit one on to see if it is far from rubbing. Mine has quite a lot of room, and I have had no rubbing issues even over bumps or cornering.
If you look at my clips on the link below, you will see how the tyres look on the car... http://www.daihatsu-drivers.co.uk/node/15192
