Gear Box Leak

Hi - new to Daihatsu's, just bought a Fourtrak to tow horse box but having problems now. Everything seemed fine then hey presto gearbox oil everywhere .. Cant see a hole in the gasket and there is no fluid getting onto plate. 1st question, is there a breatherand 2nd question if I need to replace the gaskets is it a big job between engine and box and box and transfer case Unknw

Obviously if you have to replace the gaskets its a case of dropping the box...pain in the butt if you dont have a ramp.

Try to identify where the oil is escaping from...if it is the gasket there are products on the market that can seal a gasket leak without having to replace it.

A note of caution...when you come to refill the gear box...be very very careful that you dont undo the wrong 'filler' nut.
The filler nut is found on the drivers side of the gearbox...there is a nut that looks like a filler on the passengers side.DO NOT UNDO THIS NUT...it holds the 5th gear selector fork in place.
