i have a 1998 fourtrak tdx and on it are alloy rims with 255 x 70 x r15 on them but for winter what is the narrowest tyres with if necessary other rims i can fit on my fourtrak

the original standard width
the original standard width for fourtrak was 215/80-15, trouble with that size is there useless offroad, so are you wanting to go that narrow and small on dimension? if you want to keep dimension youll have to get 16" rims off an old suzuki grand vitara then there is a huge choice in width to dimension, hope this helps, its all over the forum though under search.

thanks for your reply the reason for wanting narrow tyres is not the depth of snow, when we get it is not a problem, but where we live once the snow has compacted, the farm vehicles due to there wider axles create deep ruts and with the 255 tyres(space hoppers) they sit on top of the snow and drag the back end from side to side and somtimes spins it no matter what the speed but i have been told that narrower tyres will with the right rubber compound mix will dig into the harder snow (as i think shown on top gear using a real old land rover) a bit like the difference between skis and ice skates
believe me, if you just fit
believe me, if you just fit the right tread pattern tyre you wont have an issue, check out insa turbo saharas, I use 255/75-15 (31-10.5-15) and ......they work!!!
