Died Zone

Forum:

I have a Daihatsu Charade 1.3 GLXI 1997 between 1500-2000 rpm there seems to be a died zone (flat spot)its always there...! anyone had this and know what to do..?

Anyone have a answer to this because I still have problem...!

Interesting that no one has

Interesting that no one has come back with a answer for this, am I the only one that's got it, or even had it....hmmmm don't think so some how.

Anyone got any help on this because its a right pain...! please

What have you tried to work

What have you tried to work out the problem?

Can be anything from:

a).. A Senror picking up an issue and telling the ECU to dampen the power
b).. Wrongly gapped spark plugs
c).. Air filter need cleaning

On the question of 'Interesting that no one has come back with a answer for this, am I the only one that's got it, or even had it....hmmmm don't think so some how.'

Possibly if you own another type and brand of car this may have happened to someone before in the past, but it may have been caused by something else your car doesnt possess perhaps?

So going back to my question:

What have you tried to work out the problem?

Has the car been serviced and has a proper service history? Have the plugs been checked? DO you get an Engine Management Light on?

Before anyone can provide you with help, you first need to provide more info on what you have tried to work out the problem. Smile

Give us a break

Anthonygos,

The question you asked is one of the type that is all but impossible to answer from the details you supplied. Subsequently I for one (and it appears others) won't have a go answering it. Asking "how long is a piece of string" is impossible to answer so forum members just say nothing - it is our polite way of saying we can't help you from the details you have given.

What you apparently think is a simple question actually isn't and the complexity of the answer is just too great. The answer would have to cover so many facets and what-ifs it would be a novel in its own right and ultimately never actually give a definitive answer. It would be a truck load of work for the respondent with no actual outcome. Hence no answers.

So please give us a break.

Regards

died zone

Am not asked how long is a piece of string my question was "anyone had this and know what to do..?" and am sure am not the only one who has had this with a charade. but thank you both for your reply. I can normally wok things out, but this one got the better of me, maybe it is something to do with the ECU. of which am not into.

Died Zone

The car has a proper service history before I had her, and still does because I do my own servicing and have done for over the past 40 years, when I had the car, now about two years the problem was there, I have renewed the air fitter, spark plugs, oil and fitter etc etc, and I have never had any of the lights coming on after the start up at any time, if there is anything wrong with the engine surely the engine management light would come on, the died zone (flat spot)between 1500-2000rpm only..! and apart from that the car runs fine.

Now if you had said that in the first place

Okay. So you have tried quite a few things. Smile
If you had mentioned this at the beginning then we wouldnt be asking Wink

Umm.. Okay no CEL on the dash then? I take it the light does work when you turn the key into ACC? Just checking to make sure that you do have this light working to start with.

My only other thought on this is compression on the actual valves in the engine. Have you tried a compression test?

Good luck with this, as its a weird one.

Can't be anything wrong with

Can't be anything wrong with the engine itself if it is just a flat spot at certain revs.

You need to look at the parts that are involved with fuel enrichment, such as the throttle position sensor and air temp/coolant sensor.

Or air/vacuum leak which can cause lean running, (but you would hear these easily)

Like you say, can't be

Like you say, can't be anything with the engine (ie)compression or the valves (the above post)It has very good compression.
Am with you on this one, I also think its to do with fuel management, maybe its something to do with the throttle position sensor its always at 1500-2000rpm before and after that like i said before its runs fine you (me) have to move the throttle down or up a little before you get any response, and there is no play in the cable..! thanks for you're post.

Keep us posted on your developments

Be nice to learn what this was Smile

When you turn key to ACC

When you turn key to ACC position on the ignition switch, it does not turn on ignition (warning lights, its there for things like radio.
All lights come on when you turn key to ignition and go off when the engine is started.
