New to this forum after picking up a 98 Hijet (993cc) yesterday. It was used as a disability vehicle, but only got light use, so unusually has only 14,000 miles on the clock.

Anyway, driving it the accelerator is a little unusual. It's fine at a little pressure, then it feels firm, ultimately giving and pushing through. It's as if it's sticking. This results in it leaping forward in first gear.

Is this a quirk of the vehicle, know issue or something else? Any help gratefully received.

P.S. I'm a little mechanically minded, but picking things up. If anyone has a service / workshop manual that would be brilliant.
