Sirion Rally 2 Brakes bigger discs

Forum:

After a bit of searching I got hold of some 2003 copen calipers and bigger diameter copen discs and have fitted them to my 2002 sirion rally 2 with out any fitment problems this should improve the braking? I also serviced the rear shoes/drums and bled all 4 corners twice.

The problem is before I did this the brakes gave no real confidence and felt spongy, it was easy to push the pedal right to the floor against the stop, the car stopped quickly and ABS worked fine but the pedal was just not firm. So whats changed after all my hard work? NOTHING at all the brakes are still horrid though it does stop quicker now.

My question is, is this what all sirion brakes feel like? do i need to consider a differnt master cylinder to achieve a firm pedal? I am sure I have bled the brakes properly having done them twice unless Ive missed something like a compensator valve somewhere that needed to be opened for bleeding?

So basically you have

So basically you have upgraded to 246mm discs? My YRV Turbo with the standard 246mm discs (Same as Copen) was like this. Now a lot better thanks to the following:

- DOT5.1 Fully Synthetic Brake Fluid
- D-Sport Braded brakehoses
- Discs are grooved
- Kevlar pads
- K-Take off Rear brake shoes

Nice firm brake pedal now Smile

Bought mine when a site called japaneasie.co.uk was going. There are some goodridge hoses on E-Bay. Worth a go, and a lot cheaper than the D-Sport ones Smile

I'm still learning about the Daihatsu range....didn't think about looking @ the YRV.
Cheers

No worries. The YRV and the

No worries. The YRV and the Mark 1 (Phase1 & 2 shapes, not the Mark 2 box one from 2005 onwards) share the same kit. You will find if you can't find a part for a YRV (Especially the Turbo) another car may share it Wink

246mm

yea 246mm discs as per yrv turbo,
I know braided hoses are an improvement but I cant belive the srandard brakes are as bad as they are, everything else youve done wont effect the pedal feel just stop fading
