Hi I have a Fourtrak TDX Independant F78 I have been told by my local Daihatsu dealer that I need new free wheeling hubs at a cost of £800 for the parts alone. alternativly a manual free wheeling kit, where you go out and manually turn the hubs to engage 4WD! does anybody know if there are any cheaper alternatives to fix this problem ( no 4WD avaialble)
thanks

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, I love dealers....they con anyone and its amazing how many people fall for it.....second hand ones of ebay/scrap or new from milner (look below for site) manual ones are better than autos, with some simple servicing bonuses for greasing prop shafts etc.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Go for the manuals
I've got manual hubs and it's really no bother at all. I was expecting to get tired of enganging/disengaging them but you only use them once in a while and just leave them engaged when you think you might need 4wd
go for the manuals
Just fitted a pair of manual hubs to a fortrack.
A new pair of A.V.M. ones cost me £170-00 inc pp etc, appart from a spanner you will need a T15 Torkex headed Allen key or socket to fit them.
