Iv took the middle box out my F78 Fourtrak, So its just a straight pipe straight through to the back box, which isnt a fourtrak back box, after market rear box.

This cant do any damage can it,

Iv took the middle box out petrol cars in the past but some one said it wasnt a good idea with diesel cars as it can cause damage to the engine.

Can any one give me some info on this,

Also been told that the turbo works better on the diesel when the middle box has been taken out,

Fourtrak dosnt have a cat fitted either.

The less back pressure the better with turbocharged engines! So big bore pipework after turbo and straight through or no silencers can only help the turbo to boost up faster/easier.

Different to naturally aspirated engines where you need the correct bore pipework to optimise exhaust gas velocity and get a scavenging effect.

As I said I had put bigger exhausts on my petrol cars, rs turbo and Cossie in the past,

But someone told me you couldnt do it with a diesel engine as it could cause damage,

My argument with them was what you were saying about the turbo,

But I was starting to wonder if I actually would get any problems with the fourtrak being a diesel,

It won't cause any engine

It won't cause any engine damage, what it will do is damage your torque delivery if its lacking too much back pressure, It needs an amount of back pressure for the scavenging effect for the engine to run efficiently, and it may cause your CO to rise.

I got a bigger bore straight through on my f70, sounds great, your economy slides a little, quick little vid on my youtube, its got a cherry bomb rear box, but for the mot ill chuck on a proper exhaust....saves hasstle.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
