i have a yellow yrv turbo but i might try go manual gearbox before i play with lowering it

Hi and welcome. Well I think

Hi and welcome.

Well I think you'll be the first. I also have a yellow turbo and still modifying it. The closest I have are Tein Lowering springs, and one off rear AVO adjustable shocks. The only coilovers you will be able to get for ours will be the front ones, as I take it you have noticed how the rear suspension is setup?
Either way it should be a lot better than the standard suspension the car comes with.
Be interesting to know how you are going about the manual option.
If you want better handling, it's worth changing the alloys and tyres to something a bit wider.

with difficulty

i think it may be best to try and fit a cheap 1.3 box and see how it copes, the biggest problem will be the sensors and such. i am trying to find out how differant the yaris box is but they do look differant in pictures. i think a 6 speed from a gen7 celica would be fun but that is very blue sky

im on standard alloys but have 185 on it i think. body roll is the biggest issue

how much lower are the tein springs than normal

my boss wants me to fit it with a 4wd system haha

Is it true there were dealer

Is it true there were dealer fitted uprated springs available? I heard once that Eibach did them. If so I think mine may have them fitted as the ride is firm, and it doesnt really lean much.

The 1.3 gearbox will work,

The 1.3 gearbox will work, someone on here has done the conversion (from Europe)

For how long before it complains I don't know. Also the clutch will need to have a uprated clamp cover as the standard 1.3 clutch will more than likely slip at the torque.

teins

how is the handling with the teins and does it look noticeably differnt.

arggg i want to modify my car but have no damn time..... bring on christmas

not wanting to go too off topic but does anyone know who it was who did the manual conversion

The Teins helped with role,

The Teins helped with role, and the car has a meaner stance. There are cons; depending on alloy and tyre package I did suffer from rear arch rubbing when going over bumps, so managed to snag some one off AVO adjustables. I have since changed alloys again to ET38 alloys from ET35's and on 195/40/R17 tyres, I did however had to put 5mm spacers on the rears Smile

I have put loads of pics under the 'image Galleries' -> cars and modifications showing how my car has changed since buying it 4 years ago. Once you get the modding bug you can't stop Wink

The Teins I have are lower

The Teins I have are lower 30mm front and 35mm rear.
The eibachs I believe are 25mm front and back lower.

Standard tyres on the YRV Turbo are 175/55/15.

Nathan, yeah the dealers did

Nathan, yeah the dealers did have Eibach's as an upgrade option to go that bit lower. Turbo's are already lower than standard YRV's. My Eibach box is marked YRV 4x4 and assume its due to the Jap Turbo being more popular in 4x4.
I was told off Eibach that they were a small batch for Dealership accessories and no longer stocked or available to order.
If your springs are Black then they are originals.....if Red they might be Eibach's but some other makers also paint in that colour.

Newbie

Hi Chaps,

I am new this all. I use to be a BIG fan of Charade GTi and than life took its turn. Just got around to getting a YRV Turbo 05 RED, maybe the last one ever came to UK.

The ride is extremely firm has 15" alloys with 165/70 tyres. I want to change alloys with new LOW profile tyres... any suggesitons

Also want to change interior mainly front seats to Bucket SEAT --- again any idea?

can way to remap the Turbo and engine?

And does anyone have any lowering kits available Unknw
