P-Code P1510 Starter malfunction

Forum:

Hi guys

I have a 2002 Terios

It has got an engine management light on the dash which when read brings up the following code:
P1510 Starter Malfunction/starter relay malfunction

I can clear the code fine and it will stay off the first time i start it, however the second time you start the engine it will take perhaps 2 seconds longer to fire up and then brings the engine management light on again with the above code.

I have changed the battery as it was slightly flat, that made no difference, i have checked all the supply wires to the starter motor and done volt drop checks on the wires so know they are ok, i have now replaced the started motor with a new one but still i get the same fault

Any advise on the problem would be much appreciated

Thanks

my advice

getting sick n fed up with electrical crap going wrong.....cos no matter how good...it goes wrong, buy older cars, far more reliable.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

DTC P1510 Daihatsu Sirion M300

Hi I am new here, just trying to solve the problem with 1510 trouble code. I have a Daihatsu Sirion with same as in Toyota Aygo 1KR-FE engine. I have no problems with the car except for Check Engine Light and P1510 trouble code. In my sirion it comes on when engine warms up to normal working temperature. I read a list of codes of Daihatsu, Toyota-since aygo has the same engine and generic ones. I dont understand what connection could with starter malfunctions and CHECK ENGINE light. Has any of you guys already solved that problem?

My further actions

Hi, my car still drives, engine starts with no problem but this lamp still on makes me crazy. I found the starter, cleaned all terminals. I changed the battery for a new one. I saw a wire going from starter to the battery via ignition fuses and relays box. There seems to be the starter relay although I cant see it. But I see one wire going from the starter and one going from the battery and nearby a third wire. After taking this wire away the car does not start. It must be a starter relay with the fuses and relays box with.
Can I use a starter relay from a different car and try it in my car then?
