Speedo and Odometer STOPPED working...

Forum:

This is on a YRV Turbo for sale that I was thinking of viewing...
Seller said the speedometer stopped working after he fitted a new stereo head unit. The odometer has also 'frozen'...mileage has stayed the same since he replaced the stereo.

For the knowledgeable on here...

Will this be a simple fix or prove to be very costly?
I know Daihatsu parts, especially for the turbo are very expensive and not in great supply.

Or should I not bother...it's up for £1500 ovno...(not very standard,though!)

Look on Gumtree!!!

The dashborads on the YRV are very easy to take apart, as i have had my clocks out the other day to fix a surface mounted LED on the ECU light (As you know it's an M.O.T fail if any of the lights don't work).

Might be worth giving Daihatsu Dave a shout to see if he has a spare one off his scrapper YRV Turbo for sale. Failling that I would look for obvious things such as blown fuses, if indeed the clocks have stopped working then you can try getting hold of either a Sirion or YRV F-SPeed clocks (same as turbo but without the green and red change lights), but you will have to make sure that the mileage was close to the mileage of the car you are buying. WOrth a look on E-bay as these can come up for sale time and again and can be as little as £15. Smile
