I am trying to find out some more info on the automatic version of the Rocky.
Does anyone else have one?
I have narrowed down the gearbox make to an Aisin transmition
and that the 1.6 petrol engine is sourced from Toyota
So what are the chances that the same gearbox in the Rocky is also used in either the 1.6 charade or even a 1.6 Corrola?
Does anyone know the exact make/model auto box used?
I am tempted to buy an auto rocky but want as much info as poss before i make an offer as i cant afford to buy somthing with no parts supply.

There was no factory auto box
There was no factory auto box fitted to the Rocky, but several firms across Europe fitted them as aftermarket fitments, the Aisan box can be traced by getting the numbers off your box and going onto the Aisan site.

ask the garage if they will send you some piccys of the gearboxes, will soon be able to see if its a strak transfer box or not then.

As far as I know the 1.3/1.6 HC/HD series engines from the Charade/Applause/Sportrak are 100% Daihatsu, No Toyota involvement back then.
But Aisin gearboxes yes

Most likely a conversion, Toyota used the Aisan autobox for many of their models, it is an easy conversion to do, or it could possibly be a special built by Daihatsu, either way most likely scenario is the gearbox would be converted to take the original transfer case.

1984 - 1999 A340F 4 speed auto box was mated to the Toyota 22RE and 22RTE engines
2003 on - AM 15 autobox was mated to Toyota Hilux and only used in this model.
2003 on - AR5 autobox was used in Toyota Hilux, Lamd Cruiser, Isuzu trooper, and Suzuki Grand Vitara.
AG 5 autobox was used in Toyota Hilix and Hiace, and the Suzuki Grand Vitara.
They were all Toyota engines
They were all Toyota engines back then, and even further. My F20 had the 12R Toyota engine and from then to the demise of the range they were all Toyota engines. They were basically the same units used in the Toyota Hi ace van and Hi lux pick up.
