Fourtrak Tyre Sizes

Forum:

Hi there I am replacing the tyres on my 1999 fourtrak independant, I would like to know what the biggest tyre is I can put on there to give me more ground clearance. It has the standard fourtrak alloys (the ones with the small holes in) at the momment it has 225/70/15 tyres but i also have a 1994 independant with 255/70/15 tyres on it which are quite a bit bigger diameter than the others. I have read on some forums about 31/1050/15 tyres fitting but may have to take mudflaps off the front, is this correct? Also can anyone reccommend a good tyre, BF Goodridge style at a good price and where to get them.
Many thanks
Phil

The original tyre sizes

The original tyre sizes were:

Steel rims - 215 X 15 or 235/75 x 15

Alloys - 235/75 X 15 or 255/70 X 15

You can fit 31/10.5/15's but it sometimes meand adjusting the steering stops to prevent the tyres from hitting the chassis on full lock.

I prefer the Cooper tyres, recommended them to many people and everyone loves them, and cheaper than BFG's and just as good off road, and better on road.

Standard Indy alloys....

I'm running 265/70/15's on the standard 7J wide alloys, can fit the 31/10.5/15's but as assassin said you'll need to sort adjustments.

Looking to change mine soon and may change to 31/10.5/15's, adjust steering stops and maybe add some spacers.

I'd also go with Coopers, I have the ATR's at the moment and they've got me out of some surprisingly sticky situations - even when towing a heavy loaded trailer. Looking at the ST Maxx's next though. My borther runs the STT's on his 90 and they are phenominal for the money.
