Finally getting There!!!

Forum:

so today have had my boost gauge and bleed valve fitted and what a difference on initial acceleration. It bought a big smile to my face :). I have now ordered a fcd off Nathan (pocketrocket) and will allow me to run a bit more boost. at the moment it is running only .6 bar but the way it puts the power down is just great. The bleed valve is unbelievably sensitive and just a slight increase and straight away its into fuel cut mode.
Anyway I would like to thank jon and nathan for all of their help with the yrv and also to everyone else on here for helpful comments etc. You are all a great bunch of enthusiasts and really glad this site exists.

Good stuff Just to think you

Good stuff Smile
Just to think you were talking to me about selling up a while a go Wink
Now the weather is getting cooler again the car will feeler even quicker Wink
Bleed valve eh? Kept that one quiet Smile that and the JDM outer parts and it should be quick Smile

I Know I was considering selling it!!!!

Well i'm glad I've changed my mind Smile I have booked a session on a rolling road to make sure fuelling etc is ok and I can also compare the air filters to see for myself which one is best and whether it affects fueling / air flow. should really invest in a fuel / air meter but this will do for now. Just need to wait for the fcd to arrive then I can tweak some more.
Thanks for the advice on yellow stuff pads, like you I have been trawling the internet and Like you say parts / upgrades are readily availble in japan but are so expensive to get shipped. My next upgrade is brake lines and disc / pads. Still looking out for some springs though. Hopefully my spoilers should be ready this weekend so looking forward (NOT) to putting them on, lol.

Great stuff. FCD will be with

Great stuff. FCD will be with you Monday or tuesday latest, I will send instructions and im sure you will find it only takes minutes to fit, all you really need is some pliers to crimp the 3 wiring splice connectors.

Just be careful with the boost, as like you already notice, the manual boost controller is pretty sensitive to adjustments.

Try to keep boost 1 bar or under.

Sorry i could not help out regarding fitting, It's just that I have a new job and having the time to do these sort of things (plus finding the time to work on my own cars) is proving tricky.

GREAT!!

Thanks Nathan, and looking forward to getting the fcd on the car. And you are not joking about the sensitivity of the valve, It is actually closed at the moment to produce .6 bar!! 1/8th turn and it fuel cuts at .8 bar. So I will try to run just under 1 bar as recommended. By the way, am I ok to have the fcd unit under the bonnet or would you advise having it in the car and the wires running through?

Yeah best to stick it under

Yeah best to stick it under the dashboard somewhere and have the wires coming through one of the bulkhead grommets. I make the wires long enough to reach.

Doesn't really matter though, As lomg as you put it somewhere it cannot get wet.

Woudl be nice to fit it direct to the ECU loom wires, But I had a quick look with the glovebox removed and the ECU is really tightly fitted and did not look easy to remove and locate the correct wires.

I decided it best not to fiddle with that area.

Got mine under the bonnet.

Got mine under the bonnet. Thought you had seen it on our last meet up to sort out your window switches? Fitted the FCD myself from Nathan's instructions. Worst bit is splicing he cables' but I was lazy and didn't take the intercooler off Smile
