Aisin Manual hubs

Forum:

Hello,

I have a big box of Aisin manual hubs here and have had a sort through them....

The shafts on my F78 are 26 spline and I have sorted all the 26 spline hubs out.

I have sets from solid and silly axle hilux's, suzuki SJ's, Vitaras, troopers and landcruisers.

Unfortunately I have never owned a fourtrak before and dont have a set from one, the Fourtrak is in the workshop and im going over tomorrow to replace the auto hubs on it for manuals, could anyone here confirm which set will fit to save me some time...?

Cheers

Case of trial and error to match a set with the 26 splines and the bolt holes which attach them.

So...

The Suzuki SJ six stud ones wont just bolt straight on...?

SJ (samurai?) or Vitara

I remember from when I was looking for replacement hubs that the Vitara's or the Samurai's are the same as the 4trak. Not 100% sure, but sure enough. That should narrow down your choices. Cheers.

Right so....

I have a couple of hilux's in the workshop at present so I had to have a peek at inside the hubs of the fourtrak outside in the yard this evening.....

The Hubs came off ALOT easier than any on a Hilux I have ever removed.

Removed the hub plates and the hubs and pulled them off....

Passenger side auto hub is smashed to pieces inside.

Removed a spring and three circlips......

Removed two of the three little torx head screws... someone in the past had threaded the head on the third one..... I managed to very carefully drill the head off it (im guessing I can get some mole grips on the thread after to remove it) and was about to remove the silly bearing nut washer thing to have a look...

Started pissing down with rain, so I put it all back together and will have another go tomorrow....

My question is....

Is there a threaded bearing lock nut behind the silly bearing nut washer thing?

or at least a thread on the half shaft..?

Im thinking I will just do away with it and use two locking nuts, a lock washer between them and just bolt one of the aisin hubs ive got here on...? My problem is obviously getting rid of the silly bearing nut washer thing for clearance so the hub can sit neat.

There is enough space in the aisin hub for the axle shaft end.

and...

I had some 31 x 10.5 x 15 goodrich muds put on the standard 7.5 inch rims today, I went for a very bumpy, muddy ride in it over the moor after...no rubbing and both front mudguards are intact.

I had almost full tilt a few times and no rubbing on the rear shock mounts either.

Rear lights are doing some very strange things mind...

Right on.
