Any half decent motor factors

Any half decent motor factors should point you in the right direction for the exact brake shoe size.

But I would take it as it comes, non of the hijets I've had or heard of have needed rear shoes, you may find there is just a big build up of brake dust in the rear drums.

No promises as every vehicle is different.

Normally if they fail the MOT on rear brake efficiency it is because the rear brakes are not working virtually at all. This is because the LSPV valve will be seized up. It's got an arm that connects to the rear axle on the drivers side.

What happens is the valve get stiff, and the big spring you can see loses its strength from age. If you peel the rubber off the LSPV, squirt some wd-40 at it and push it in and out a few times it comes back to life.

Then if you find a spring that fits, but a fair bit stronger it will then pass the MOT.

I have heard of other people just shimming the lower spring carrier up with some tubing, and sending the van to the MOT with a load of weight in the back of it.

LSPV failure is very very common on Hijets.

Good luck Derek,

Matt
