rear screen wiper motor

Forum:

Can anyone help.
I have a second hand replacement wiper motor as original ceased to work.
In the door there are three wires ito the connecting block, solid blue, blue with thin black strip and green.

Replacement wiper motor has only TWO wires solid blue and blue with white stripe.

I've tried various permutations and still can't get it to function with the switch

but if I hold wires to battery terminals wiper motor works, can anyone help please?

Thanks

Test it on a re-wire.

The 2nd hand could be a wiper with a timer so the wiper continues for several wipes when switched off. One cable is permanent live, the other is the switch wire [needs both connected to live for wiper to operate]. The earth forms the wipers attachment to the chassis. You could try joining both blue and blue/white together and attaching an earth to the wipers itself. If you have a conductivity metre you could check the wiring for a circuit - join both cables and attach an earth : then check for a circuit. To test and as a precaution, put a 12v fuse into the circuit before testing.
This could do the trick but don't blame me if it fails. There is a chance the 2nd hand wiper is a dud.
