Forum:

Hello all . Just bought a 2001 LWB Daisy .Can anyone help me on the subject of roof bars" i only need to have them on as a tempoary idea " want to move ladders around. I have 3 Houses to maintain ,mine , mums, now sisters..Some one out there might be able to help..and i dont want or need to use a trailer ,no space and someone always want to borrow it..Any help would be great..Many thanks Eugene ..

The only thing I have ever se

The only thing I have ever seen on a LWB are 'roof racks' m8..or a single gutter type bar on the front cab roof as a mounting for a row of spots.

The roof rack for 4tracks are like hens teeth...have seen them occasionaly on ebay..but ya gotta be quick.

If you have the flat roofed staion wagon your ok ..but for the resin topped track...your talking a complicated affair that locates at the rear of the truck.

Thanks Mike

I have got the high backed type..So it looks like iam in trouble, nothing new there..Many thanks Eugene..

I once made a roof rack to ho

I once made a roof rack to hold a couple of spare tyres for an extended trip. I pulled the 2nd and 4th bolts out of the roof on either side, and basically built a rectangle out of steel, with 4 legs that went down and aligned with the holes. With nuts welded into the middle of the legs, I used a bolt up from below, a large washer above, and some silicone to seal it all. Worked a treat. The FRP roofs on the LWB's are pretty strong. You could do something similar, say at the rear pair of holes, and use a normal gutter type roofbar on the front for a ladder. Alternatively, do what I have now. I have replaced the same four bolts with eye bolts, with the rings above the roof line. I carry my swag up there, if the rear is full, held down by a pair of load restraint straps. You could do similar, using some padding to protect the roof, and using the roof bar at the front. Its not really that difficult a problem to sort out.
