Over heating/ new used sportrak

Forum:

Hi.

My husband and I needed a new car for a new baby and have just purchased a 1992 dihatsu 4 wheel drive sportrack for £900. When we bought it the chap said that it had a slight cooling problem and would need topping up with water now and then. We took it out yesterday for the first time and after 10 mins of driving the whole thing was boiling hot, steaming and the water tank was bubbling. This happened a couple of times on the short journey and we had to stop to let it cool. We told the guy and he said he would get the cooling system fixed. However now I'm worried what else this problem may have been doing to the rest of the car. With only purchasing it yesterday I feel like we may still have the opportunity of returning it and getting our money back (it was a friend of a friend so hoping wouldn't be too ruthless!). Guess I'm asking if you think it's worth getting it fixed in the hope it would be safe and mechanically sound or abandoning completely. Your advice much appreciated! Also we live in the Channel Islands and no mot required here.

Thanks K

I would say, seeings as it's

I would say, seeings as it's a sportrak, you've brought one with a blown head gasket, hence water boiling issue.....the water dissapears.....because its coming out the exhaust where it shouldn't be.

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
