sportrak clutch replacement

Forum:

hi folks, I am replacing the clutch on my sporty and have run into a problem. I cannot get any of the bolts holding the front propshaft to budge, tried all the usual methods (soaking in wd, heat etc.) but still no joy. Does anyone know if the rear of the prop will just slide out when the gearbox is moved backwards?

Everything else has come apart fine, rear prop is off, all linkages undone, all bellhousing bolts out, just got to remove gearstick.

Any info greatly appreciated as I'm doing this without the aid of a manual!...thanks

I don't think anyone can

I don't think anyone can assure you the result. You have to try it practically on your own risk to see the output.

Yes. The prop is only

Yes. The prop is only inserted into the gearbox. If you move the box backwards the prop will fall out. Of course at this point, so does the gearbox oil...

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
