Hi all,

I had a leak from the water pump gasket and today we pulled the pump off my 2.8TD Rocky (Fourtrak) and scraped the perished gasket from both the pump and block. On the back of the water pump is a steel plate approx. 2mm thick held on by 3 screws (or maybe 4). We undid the screws and removed the plate and there is no gasket between the pump and this plate, nor could we see any evidence of goo. Should there be a gasket between the water pump and the plate?
