Hello all . I am a new member and have fairly recently put my sportrak back on the road .
All has been well until coming back from fishing the other day , the steering went really heavy and I limped home with it .
I looked through a very old post and the problem seems to be that the tensioner pulley which guides the steering belt has disintegrated !
Could any one give me the proper name for the part , or even better , know where I can get one

Don't think I'm wrong if I say that your Sportrak has Power steering. So the pulley you're refering to should be the power steering pump pulley.
Not sure it can be taken apart from the pump and replaced. Milner Offroad sales the pump with the pulley attached for the Fourtrak (link below), maybe it would fit the Sportrak. If not, look intpo used parts (salvage).

If the pulley can be taken apart, you could certainly find a new replacement on ebay. Maybe a generic part.

The tensioner is a simple bearing, assuming the outer shell is fine then strip it down and remove the bearing, it will contain a number on one side of the bearing, go to a specialist in bearings and they will get one off the shelf from your number, alternatively they will measure it and get one from their dimensions chart.
