Hi All,
I've got a 2005 terios auto 1.3 great car, really impressed but at almost 90k miles it seems to have wrecked valves prob from lpg conversion.
Garage has confirmed there's low compression on 2 cylinders.
They've offered me a complete rebuild, until they open it up they won't know but worst case they've said £650 (to replace all values - almost £250 just for valves and head gasket from daihatsu) but at least £250 in labour anyway...
...or there's the option of an engine swap - labour £250
...or just swap the head from another car, should be even less labour?
I think i'm favouring a head swap for simplicity...
What I'm asking is which engines/heads are compatible...?
From what I understand it is a K3-VE.
Is one K3VE the same as any other, I gather it is fitted to a lot of different Daihatsus (Perodua, myvi, FRV, Terios MK1 2001+, sirion, copen).
Will any do?
Will a K3-VET head fit?
I've heard there were head improvements on the K3-VE after 2007 (and later became the same as the 3SZ-VE, but can I fit this with no other modifications (I think I read the later ones need the idle control valve and throttle body)?
Thanks in advance!
Looks like a K3-VE2 would fit
