Forum:
Just got some new manual free wheeling hubs fopr the Sportrak & went to fit them today.
Problem.
the original fitment were auto hubsbut as i couldn't get any Milners sent me the ones they said should easily fit, its just a case of removing one and replacing with the other. However, there's a couple of locating pins to fit the auto's onto but no corresponding holes in the manual ones.
Any ideas or has Milners sent me the wrong parts?
Also the auto hub has a locking nut on the end of the front axle but there appears to be no use for this on the manual hubs.
Finally the auto hub appears to have an automatic locking hub brake subassembly which has a spring clip round the outsidewhereas the manual one appears to have free wheel hub ring subassembly with no spring clip.
So here's the big question. Has anyone any experience of converting the hubs on a 92 Sportrak from auto to manual, how easy is it and do you really think Milners may have sent the wrong parts?
From what I can see, the manual hubs will fit if I grind the locating pins off the wheel hub but would they work?

P**ed off and begining to regret buying this particular car
PS. took the auto hub off the o/s and poured the contents onto a piece of rag. No chance of putting that back together again then!
HUBS
I changed my oe man hubs with the milners one a few weeks ago and they fitted fine. i know yours are manual.
have you phoned milners back, i have always found them very helpful.
The hubs they sell are good, my only gripe is that there is no new spring clip with them.
Not sure about the manual but once you get all the bits off i would have thought it was the same inside.

Got in touch with Milners who had sent the wrong ones.
Got it all sorted now and tested it out last weekend. Fuel consumption is also now about 10mpg better so I'm well happy
