I don't know where these Daih

I don't know where these Daihats come from that give superbe 30+ mpg's. Personally I've never had one give me more than 25ish, and that's being carfull with the loud peddel.

55/60

my basic rule

don't rev the engine 2.8td has plenty low down grunt
sit at 55/60 mph and service with a good quality oil and filter
cheep oil filters can rob you of performance. if you dont belive me get a original daihatsu filter and a cheep one give it a try youl be amazed at the difrence

Fair enugh. My comments were

Fair enugh. My comments were not directed at anyone by the way. Just stating facts as I see them. By the way the Daihatsu's I've had are F20, F50, F75, F200 (Sporti), F80 & F78. As I said, I have never had decent fuel consumtion out of any of them. It may well be the way I drive, or the type of driving I do.

the way we drive

yep its fair to say we all drive difrently.
it would be a boring world if we were all the same
we wouldent have this good forum to help each other out
its the same with the mitsi l200 some get 22 mpg and some get 36mpg

Do you have one of thouse too

Do you have one of thouse too? That's my family car, as it goes. (And I get about 22mpg, by the way). She's an L reg auto. Haven't found mention of a manual version of the L200, only the 300.

Fuel Consumption

I reliably get 10 km per litre (30mpg) from my 2 F75 Rockies. (No Turbo) Set the trip meter when refilling and always check it so I know when I have a problem. Use the trip meter and not the unreliable fuel gauge to know when to refuel. Change gears at 2000 rpm keeping revs between 1000 and 2000 rpms. Still have the original clutch in my 530,000 km F75 Rocky so I must be driving OK. The Rocky took a sickie today - oil pressure was down so I will try an oil change with fresh Shell Helix super for older engines otherwise that engine will need to be replaced.
