your noisy clutch

hello mate
it does sound like your release bearing to me it will jangle away until you press the clutch pown then the pressure will silence it.
the sound it makes is pretty standard so any one who has herd one before should be able to tell
the problem is if it is the the only sure way to deal with it is to remove the gear box and fit a new one, while your in there you may as well fit a whole clutch cos you sure will be gutted if the clutch fails once youve done the job.
now then i can offer a glimmer of hope it is a bit of a botch and may or may not work.
if you get under your gear box you may find some sort of inspection hole on your bell housing or even you may be able to see into the hole where the clutch lever is.
now a little trick to silence the bearing is to squirt it with oil
to begin with wd40 should hit the spot and will instantly silence it
this will allow for an accurate diagnosis
the prob with wd40 is its very thin and wont last long
if it works then you will need to rig up a device to put some thicker stuff onto the bearing maybe gear box oil
if you are really lucky this may last for a while.
now one word of warning DONT GO MAD WITH OIL cos if you get any on your clutch it will slip.

good luck
