Fourtrak engine running on

Forum:

When I turn off my flourtrak independant engine sometime it continues to run for about a second or two...should I be conserned?

thanks simon

No

Probably not. If it's just a second or two, it'll just be the pump taking a moment to switch off.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

over run

when you turn off a diesel engine the only way to stop it is to cut the fuel supply, so turning off the key cuts power to a solenoid, in this case an electro magnet holding back a small spring loaded plunger, when turned off plunger drops down cutting fuel supply so engine stops. whats happening with yours is the plunger is sticking slightly probably due to a bit or dirt or corrosion, on the fourtrack it is near the fuel filter (or so ive been told)if you take it off open it up and rub the plunger with fine wet n dry to get rid of any burrs or dirt then put it back it will cure the problem, and is only a 10 minute job. saying that though mine does it and ive not got round to doing it yet (lazy n bone idle me) but it wont cause any damage all the best Mark
