Hi,
My Terios seems to be possessed with an intermittent demon!
It's a '98 Terios which has nearly 130,000 miles on the clock. I've never had any major problems with it but over the last year it has begun to cut out intermittently when stopping at junctions, lights or even just slowing down to turn right or left. It always starts perfectly but will then often cut out after 5/10 minutes of running. After it's cut out the engine starts again with no problem and after 20 minutes or so of running the problem goes away.
I've had it into my local (non Daihatsu) garage and they can find nothing wrong. Daihatsu garages are few and far between where I live (south west Ireland) so I'm hoping someone here can give me a clue. The car can cut out whether the petrol tank is full or nearly empty and whether it's cold and damp or hot and sunny. Lately, as well as cutting out, it's started to be very lumpy whilst running as well for the first 10 - 15 miles. I know this sounds like a carb. problem but this has been checked out and nothing found.
This problem can disappear for weeks on end as well and then come back for seemingly no reason.
I've had a couple of hairy situations with it cutting out on turns and would really like to get this problem diagnosed. Do I need a mechanic or a priest. Please help!
Thanks,
Scrowmangel

Start by replacing the fuel filter, and cleaning the injectors - a good fuel additive should help with the last bit.

I have the same problem with my Terios SX, it has 102000 K's on the clock and it's doing the same thing. Can you tell me what the problem was that you encountered and how it was fixed. Thanks in advance, Gary
