Help with HiJet please

Forum:

Help??? I have recently bought a 96 HiJet diesel van. I bought it with a blown head gasket and got a knowledgeable friend to take the head off, have it skimmed and replace with a new gasket. The problem is that he can't seem to get the throttle linkage back together properly. It all seems to be coupled up correctly but pressing the accelerator pedal doesnt operate the throttle. Can anyone shed any light on this please?? Perhaps a picture or drawing of how it all should be connected under the rocker cover? Any help or advice gratefully received.
Thanks
Steve

You say the throttle won't work, a stupid question maybe, but does it run at all? The throttle is a weird design and doesn't really work until the engine is running and the speed is then governed (by a centrifugal governor on the front of the camshaft). I suspect that the injector cam adjusters (tappets) have been undone, which will have buggered up the injector timing and is difficult to set up :'(. If you drop me an email, eval(unescape('%64%6f%63%75%6d%65%6e%74%2e%77%72%69%74%65%28%27%3c%61%20%68%72%65%66%3d%22%6d%61%69%6c%74%6f%3a%61%72%67%75%73%5f%65%6e%71%75%69%72%69%65%73%40%68%6f%74%6d%61%69%6c%2e%63%6f%6d%22%3e%61%72%67%75%73%5f%65%6e%71%75%69%72%69%65%73%40%68%6f%74%6d%61%69%6c%2e%63%6f%6d%3c%2f%61%3e%27%29%3b')) I might be able to help further.

Hi Jet Help

Hi Johnny,
Thanks for your advice. The engine runs and ticks over but wont rev. I have copied your reply to the chap who is trying to fix it for me, Dave at Tornado Motorsport. I have asked him to describe the problem. Many thanks for your help - we really are stuffed at the moment!!!
