There are four long bolts joining the gearbox to the transfure box. They clamp the 5th gear section of the box (as this was originaly a four speed box) between the gearbox proper, and the transfure box. The trasfure is all of the 'off center' part of the box. The gearbox is just the 'squar' bit between the bell housing and the '5th gear'. You will need to take the 5th gear section off as well to get at the main shaft retaining bolt.

The 5th gear section that Nev mentiones is the cast housing, about 4 inches long, between the gearbox and transfer case. Make sure this stays on the transfer case when you unbolt it all.
