Hi,
Has anyone replaced a turbo on a Fourtrak? Mine is leaking oil and making a loud whooshing noise so i think it's on its way out.
I just wondered if it's a job an average mechanic can perform or if it's best left to a specialist.
Also, does anyone know what would cause a turbo to fail in the first place - if I fit a new (reconditioned) one, I don't want that to fail as well!

Replacing the turbo is not a hard job......the average mech can do it, it should only take a couple of hours.......soak the bolts with WD40 (or Coke) the night before.
What caused it to leak? How old is unit....oftern the seals just go....they get old, it is a simple as that.
