Carb sporty engine as spare for EFI sporty?

Forum:

Greetings again all Sportrak Devotees from the land of Ice and Fire, Björk and Brennivín...

A kindly mate has offered me a 1992 Feroza ELII (there are no other Sportraks here in Iceland) gratis. It has a carb.
Will the engine be compatible with my 1997 Sportrak XiSE (as you know it has EFI)and is it difficult to adapt a carb engine for an injection?
Also as the Sporty is RHD and his Feroza LHD any problem cannabalizing the gearbox with some fatha beans and a nice chianti to use as a spare?
Would like to have it as a spare engine, as it only has done 62K km. What think ye all?

I can't garentee it, but I have been informed that all Sportraks where manufactured in Japan as Injected engins. Then some importing countries took off the electronics and replaced with a carb, to lower BHP (and there for insurance brackets).
As I said don't know how true it is, but I have heard it from more than one source. If true, then it is the same engine, and Injecting it will be puting it back to spec.
As for the gearbox, I would be VERY suprised if it is any diffrent. There would be no point making a difrent box, and therefor why do it as it would be more expencive. This is only my oppinion though, and not based on any fact or hearsay.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
