i have a h reg tdi fourtrak which sprays out water from the radiator on a regular basis, there are no puddles when stood still, however i have had a look at the radiator and the fins are a bit shot. how easy is it to change the radiator and are there any hints and tips i should know, i.e bleeding the cooling system etc

Personally I think changing the radiator very easy on the fourtraks....if you send me your email address in a private message I will Winzip you the required files from the service manual if it make you feel better when doing it.
