I am thinking about purchasing a Daihatsu Terios when I move to Panama in a few months. I have a 17 foot small boat to tow on an irregular basis.. The boat and trailer weighs about 900 kg (1980 pounds). I noticed that the Terios specifications rate the towing capacity at 1350 kg (2970 pounds). Is that realistic? the advertised towing capacity is higher than many small V-6 engines. Does it have to do with the engine design or is it just sales hype. Any information or personal experiences would be much appreciated.
Towing Weight advice:
The weights on the official site is correct. Also be carfull of nose weight when towing keep things balanced. This in not sales hype as Dihatsu would be breaking the trade discriptions act. I have been looking at getting a small 4x4 myself for towing a caravan. On my list i have looked at Fiat sedici and Suzuki SX4 they are worth the look and can be used to lever off each over when it comes to price go for the most poweful Diesel best for towing test drive a few before making your mind up.
