Evening all, I am new to this forum and have just got hold of a Daihatsu 2.8 turbo diesel engine for my Land Rover. Can anyone tell me what model of engine it might be so I know what service items I can order and any spares if I need them. Are there any weak points to watch for on the engines reliability. Rich
Its probably a DL62. Check
Its probably a DL62. Check the front timing cover, whether its alloy or plastic. If alloy, you have a gear drive timing motor, less worries. If its plastic, then you have a timing belt which needs to be monitored for signs of failure. Apart from that, theyre practically bulletproof, provided the normal diesel requirements are met, clean air, clean oil, clean fuel.
