The curtesy light switches on my Sportrak are located in the rear bottom corner of the door frame.

Its not on the door.
Switches are not on the door. The switch is under a small rubber dome set into the cars body. The switch is found opposite side to the hinge : bottom curved edge of the door's port-hole and set close to the draught excluder.
Lift the rubber dome. Unscrew the switch and don't loose it by dropping it inside the box section. The conection to earth will be rusted : clean and smear with vasoline.
