HI, MY 1995 ROCKY will not work properly it has auto locking hubs and there are no buttons on the dash, once a 4x4 gear is selected it is shown on the consol but the front wheels don't turn, i tried changing the hydraulic vavlve???? but this didn't work, is there anyone that can help, i'm no mechanic but if you can help me i 'll get some one to follow you instructions!

4 wheel drive doesnt work
Hi Lee I have a 1995 fourtrak, and mine sheared off the front prop shaft where it comes from the transfer box, have a look there, hope this helps? Adam
Front prop
Hi, It's worth checking that the telescopic fron prop splines have not rotted away. Put it in 4wd and jack up one front wheel, try turning the wheel and watch if the front half of the propshaft turns but the rear does not. If this is the the case then your front prop is buggered. Common problem!

it sounds like it could be your hubs not engaging are they manuel or automatic?

sorry just read your question properly this time! yeh the automatic hubs are prone to seizing up, i should be looking to replace them, or if you feel confident enough you may be able to take them apart and see if you can free them off.

Hi there, It does sound like its the front hubs but this may not be as bad as it sounds. firstly get under the truck and try turning the front driveshafts If they lock then its not the hubs but you may well find one or both don't as one not functioning will stop the fronts doing any work, in this case you need to firstly check they are mounted correctly and this can be done with the wheel on with the truck on the ground. Undo all the bolts that hold the hub on and take it off you will see a lug that needs to be located between the two tabs on the wheel hub. Sometimes it hasn't been put back on correctly in the past and that will cure it. If it doesn't then its really new hub time.
