Crank shaft pullies on Fourtrak independant

Forum:

My truck has been makin a noise now for a week. Dad had a look and guessed it was the belts slippin but they were new just a few months ago. he said see how you get on, then thought it was the water pump so have been looking for a new one cheap, but today it started makin the most hurrendous grinding noise not the squeek previously. Took it to a friends garage for them to have a look. Took 3 of them to decide it was the crank shaft pulley which had parted company with each other and the back one (nearest to the engine) was grinding on the engine casing.
He said he wouldn't beable to fix it in till next week but explained the problem to my friend so if he wanted to have a go at it he could.
Phoned Main dealer to order part and they wanna know which pulley??? Big one or small one. Well they are both the same size I said. So need to find out which one cos after explaining to the parts man we are none the wiser without takin car apart 1st. The small pulley is £33 and the large pulley is £160 Shok   Shok   Shok . What a difference there both the same to look at. Any one know which one I need??? Or what the difference is and tips on how to fix it??? Any help appreciated.

Help or not

I bet being stroppy didn't get it fixed! People might be interested to know what the problem was and how you fixed it, that way YOU could be helpful to other users of the forum. That would be nice.
