rugger lift

Forum:

I've done a 35mm body lift on the chugger. Gilly, I noticed you did a leaf over conversion. I'd be interested to hear more about that. Did you need to alter the drive shaft at all?

Doog,

I can't post a reply on your forum topic even if I'm loged in.
But yes I had to put 2inch spacers in between the drive shaft and both the diff's.
They are self constructed from iron but aluminum is preferable.
I Also had to get rid of the diagonal stabilizer in front and that could set you back some ride comfort on fast bumpy runs.
But because I only trafel slow and on extreme mud terain I did not mind.
Further more i did need to replace my shock hookup points on the diff's and had to find a suitable length after market shocks.
In driving stability I had to give up fast cornering to prevent turning over.
But my Rocky wasn't a F1 bolide before the convertion so I could live with that.
Now I can take almost every ditch I find on my way and even fallen trees aren't a problem any more.

So think clear before you do the convertion, It has it's good and bad sides.

Good luck,

Gilly
