fourtrack/f50/dg engine

Forum:

hi please bear with me as new to all this i have a series 2a land rover with a daihatsu dg engine ithink it comes from an F 50 it was somebody`s project who never got around to finishing it.problem being that the starter would just click sochecked all connections still same had new selonoid fitted still clicked.had starter checked it was ok. ran separate wires from battery so ignition was isolated still clicked! another selonoid no difference I must point out that it turned the engine probably 1 in 50 attempts after talking to lots of people it was decided to make some spacers of varying mm ie 1 2 3 &4 with 2mm starter engages and starts engine 50% of time. this has taken 2 weeks and £120 acricked neck and bad back. i hope somebody may come up with some answers. steve.

It could be a lazy motor.

It could be a lazy motor. When it was checked, did it spin up fine on the deck, with noload on it? Sometimes starters just go that way. Where abouts are you? If you are near Dover, Kent, I may be able to dig out a starter which you can try on it befor you go trying anything els.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
