I have just bought as a winter runabout a 1985 Charade Turbo, its such a fun little car but I cant believe the MPG I am getting! The last tank I managed 160 miles which worked out to 27MPG!!! Out of a 1.0 turbo I cant understand why! Does anyone know what I should be expecting to the gallon? Someone has ripped the airbox out and fitted a K&N directly onto the turbo and I wonder if the mixture has been richened up to compensate perhaps? Also it has an aftermarket boost gauge fitted and it seems to boost up to 1 bar if allowed, does this seem right?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

The K&N can act either way on
The K&N can act either way on MPG. Some situations it and increase MPG and other situations reduce it. From what I remember from talking on other Daihatsu forums is that a seem to be around 40mpg tho I might be wrong. As it has lots of aftermarket addons the person may of well fiddled with the mixture, and messed about with the ECU, etc.
Best place to ask however is at Daihard http://bbs.daihard.org as they have a lot more Charade owners. Tho someone will probably still be able to help on this site too!
