Sportrak Fan On Constantly

Forum:

Can anyone tell me if its normal for the main fan on a sportrak to be on constantly from the second the car is started?

Any replies will be greatly apreciated.

It is perfectly normal for the fan to run all the time.

It uses what is called a viscous coupling to drive it.

When the engine is cold, it doesn't draw much air through, the fan is only turning very lightly. As the engine gets hot, the viscous coupling locks and the fan draws a lot more air through, and on mine, you can hear it "roar" when the engine revs up.
