PAS Belt

Forum:

Help!!! I have bought a new PAS belt for my 87 2.8td Fourtrak and I can`t get the bugger on!! >:  It seems too small. Is there a special way of doing this job, or have I missed something obvious, the way I have tried is to slacken the pump at the adjuster and push it all the way back even at this I can`t get the new belt on

Any ideas, because it is driving me mad and the old belt is squealing like mad , the old belt seems quite longer btw

belt size

only comment i can make is are you sure its the correct belt for the fourtrak i replaced mine and there was no probs it was a 10 min job doing it the way you described, the only other thing is has the steering pump been modified as in has a larger pully been fitted at sometime.if youve had the 2 together and theres a big size difference then thats the only 2 things i can think of,hope you get the bother sorted cheers BILL

Old Belt

If you can still read the part number/manufacturer from the old belt it might be worth a trip to your local auto shop to check if it's a standard belt or if somebody has made some mods.

Just a thought Wink
