Upgrading Lights from stardard factory bulbs to HID

Forum:

Hi,

I own a Daihatsu Applause 1991 and I am planning to change my standard factory bulbs to HID H4-4 4300K. I found a kit on e-bay having item number 320112482501 and the Ad bears the title, "NEW H4-4 BI-XENON 4.3K HID XENON LIGHT CONVERSION KIT".

If anyone has experianced HID quality or have any comments or suggestions kindly give your views.

I would appreciate any kind of comments.

Unfortunately, with regards

Unfortunately, with regards to Daihatsu spares and accessories I haven't really found anything in Malta. However, with regards to HID lights, there are a number of options. I assume that the original bulbs are H4 (circular base with 3 legs and 2 filaments in the bulb - 55W/60W). Basically, a conversion kit will consist mainly of a ballast (step up coil/transformer) and the replacement bulb. If I'm not mistaken, the temp for HID (to have a whitish/bluish look) should be between 6000K to 8000K. I'd go for something around 6500K - 7000K since 8000K would be too blue and not so bright, but for that, look for a colour temperature scale on the internet and you can choose the colour you like and the corresponding temperature. Although I haven't mounted such a kit myself on my Sirion (cos it's about LM80 or LM100 to get a kit) I don't think its very difficult to fit. Besides, if the car is a 1991 model there are probably not much electronics involved, which makes the task easier.
