F50 Head Gasket

Forum:

Hi Daihatsu people, I have a Landrover (spit) that is fitted with a Daihatsu F50 2.5 Diesel. It's blowing bubbles into the radiator and seems to have a blown Head gasket or a cracked head. There is no water in the oil and no oil in the water. Does anyone know where I can get a gasket set and does anyone have a cylider head for said engine. Advice would be most welcome. Cheers John Mee

The main Daihatsu dealer

The main Daihatsu dealer should still carry gascket set. There is a compleat engine and gearbox on ebay at the mo for £75. It's been on a couple of times already and not sold.

Daihatsu F50

Thanks Nev, yes, I had spotted the engine and I have contacted the seller, the problem is I live in Cornwall!
Cheers John

You could always look for an

You could always look for an F70 / F75 (Diesel Fourtrak). These are not hard to come by cheaply, with totaly rotten bodywork. The 2.8 engine will go straight into your converted Landi, as it is the same block. Get a terbo one, as the non terbo is totaly crap. You will need to change the exhust slightly. The fule pump is electronicaly operated, instead of mecanical (just needs a wire to switch it on and off). You may need to bolt the F50 engin mounts to the 2.8 block, as this makes the engine sit lower. And that's about it.
