Water in diesel tank!!!!! Fourtrak air intake/Snorkel!!!!!!!!!!

Forum:

A warning lamp has come up on the dash, the manual says its due to excess water in the tank, it also says you can let it out, can i do this even though im not sure how?

Seperate question who knows where the air intake would be on my 97 fourtrak tdx? as i was thinking of investing in a snorkel?
Thankyou.

Water in diesel tank!!!!! Fourtrak air intake/Snorkel!!!!!!!!!!

right under the fuel filter is a water seperator unit unplug the wiring connector to disconect the warning lamp and remove bottom section using pipe pliers remove fuel filter and o ring using filter wrench change filter if warning light is still on inspect warning switch
1 check there is continuity between the terminals when the float up position
2 check thaty here is no continuity between terminals when float is in the down postiton

this light normally comes on when either there is too much water in the filter or the self drain has failed if these are ok then you may find that as it is on the same warning circuit as the battery light, the alternator may have failed either that of disconnect it and worry about it later

snorkel

find the air filter the snorkel is placed instead of the forced a intake that runs to the front of the vch that you disconnect, reconnect the snorkel flexi pipe and then its routed through the wing to a higher level normaly connected to the passenger side front pilar, beside the windscreen

however if you are going to use the thing in water i would also add bits of small bore plastic pipe to the gear and transfer box front and rear axels breather points as you dont want mud in there do we, bring to pipes up high enough so that they are near the top of the firewall
